Heathrow staff vote to Strike.

Staff at BAA, the company which runs Heathrow Airport, have voted 3 to 1 in favour of a strike, over pay.

BAA airports, which include Heathrow as well as Southampton, Edinburgh, Stansted, Glasgow and Aberdeen will have to close should strike action go ahead. The union will be required to give 1 week notice of a strike.

50% of staff voted, and 74.1% of those voted to strike. The vote was organised by the Unite union which was behind the recent round of strikes by British Airways Staff.

Gatwick airport was recently sold by BAA to the GIP, and so Gatwick will remain open in the event of a BAA strike.
