Flights cancelled due to snow forecast at Heathrow Airport

Snow forecast to begin around 3pm today has meant some flights are being cancelled. Roughly 100 flights have been pre-emptively cancelled with disruption expected from 3pm.

British Airways have cancelled 61 flights across Heathrow and Gatwick schedules.

Heathrow To Get Proposed Third Runway

Described as a “truly momentous” decision by Transport Secretary Chris Grayling, ministers approved a third runway at Heathrow.

Expansion will improve the UK’s connections with the rest of the world and support trade and jobs.

A computer failure has results in the need to close UK airspace.

The latest report is that it will open at 7pm.

French Strike to cause cancellations tomorrow.

Some flights from Heathrow may be cancelled tomorrow when a strike by French air traffic services means flights to or over France will face disruption.

Cancellations due to high wind

Heathrow airport has requested all airlines to reduce the volumes of flights today due to high winds.

6am to 11am – 20% of flights cancelled 11am to 4pm – 10% of flights cancelled 4pm to 10.30pm – 5% of flights cancelled

Snow is forecast at Heathrow airport on 20th January.

Light snow is forecast until midday 20th, increasing between 12 and 18. (With a probability of 40%)

Snow, sleet, and icy conditions are forecast for the next week. Flights tomorrow may be impacted. Leave plenty of time for your journey, and contact your airline in advance.

~300 flights were cancelled today, as heavy snow hits the UK making it difficult to run at full capacity.

To help keep the airport open, the North Runway (09L/27R) was closed to remove snow.

A 24 hour strike by Lufthansa cabin crew has affected Lufthansa flights from London Heathrow Airport.

Sewage on bags at Terminal 5

A sewage pipe at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 is said to have ruptured, allowing raw sewage to seep onto roughly 100 items of luggage.

The bags have been cleaned and returned to their owners.
