Heathrow joins the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme
The Airport Carbon Accreditation programme’s newest member is London Heathrow Airport.
The programme aims to increase awareness of carbon emissions in aviation, and provide structure and guidance for reducing it. Since the scheme launched in 2009, 23 airports have joined. There are 400 potential member airports in Europe.
Heathrow qualified under the ‘optimisation’ level of the scheme, as Heathrow airport has seen a reduction in carbon emissions over the last 3 years through new procedures and through analysis/reporting of the airport’s carbon footprint.
