2012 statistics show busiest year on record
2012 has been one of the most interesting years in Aviation for a while. Since the economic difficulties in 2008, air travel has changed – and with brand merging and changing their offering, and the growth of low cost carriers, demand for air travel is once again growing.
In 2012, Heathrow Airport handled 70 million passengers. Interesting numbers in the breakdown of this figure shows how the world is changing – Traffic to China was up 23% over 2011, to Brazil up 21%, and to East Asia up 6.2%
At the same time, European flights suffered some reduction, while Transatlantic routes to North America also saw a small rise in numbers.
At the same time as an increase in passengers, the experience of passengers using the airport improved.
